Arguably the best, and definitely the biggest, of the HBCU football classics takes place this weekend in Birmingham, Ala., when Alabama A&M University takes on rival Alabama State University in the Magic City Classic. AAMU and ASU have been playing each other in football since 1924. Yearly since 1945. AAMU leads the series 39-36-3.
Last year’s game drew more than 67,000 fans to storied Legions Field. This year’s attendance could top 70,000. The Magic City Classic has surpassed the annual Bayou Classic in New Orleans (Southern vs. Grambling) as the biggest HBCU classic in terms of attendance. And, as big a draw as the football game, is the battle of the AAMU vs. ASU marching bands. Below is poll that will let you vote on who will win the battle of the bands.
