Bryant Gumbel legacy as a pioneer for African-American sports journalists was set long ago. Bryant served as the co-host for NBC’s coverage of the National Football League in 1975. And practically every journalists of color that has come after his owes Gumbel a debt of gratitude for paving the way.
Gumbel, who currently hosts HBO’s ‘Real Sports’ has never been afraid to voice his opinions on issues of race relations in America.
