Practically every member of the Houston Texans took a knee during the national anthem before the start of Sunday’s game with the Seattle Seahawks.
Their demonstration was a direct answer to the recent comments made by team owner Bob McNair, who said “We can’t have the inmates running the prison,” in response to NFL player demonstrations during the anthem.
McNair apologized for his comments, but they came only after he was bombarded with negative feedback. Here’s hoping the players will do more to hold McNair accountable. Because if you consider what McNair says in public, imagine what he is says in private.
