My Week 4 picks.
Baltimore 0-3 at 2-1 Pittsburgh – Thousands of Steelers fans hated the signing of Michael Vick. They didn’t want that convicted felon on their team. If Vick plays well while Ben Roethlisberger is on the mend, those same fans would elect him mayor. Meanwhile, Baltimore sucks. Steelers 28, Ravens 24.
Jacksonville 1-2 at Indianapolis 1-2 – The Colts are going to win the AFC South again this year simply because they get to play teams like Jacksonville twice a year. The Colts have problems, but they are nothing like Jacksonville’s. Colts 31, Jacksonville 21.
New York Jets 2-1 at Miami 1-2 (in London) – Fans in Miami are upset because Ndamukong Suh isn’t putting up numbers like J.J. Watt in Houston. That is because he is not Watt. But he is a great player, it’s just his impact is far more subtle. Suh will get his first sack in this game, and the Dolphins will win. Miami 21, Jets 17.
New York Giants 1-2 at Buffalo 2-1 – How can a Buffalo possibly beat a Giant? I mean, to the Giant, the Buffalo is probably the equivalent of an ant. The Giant can just pick up the Buffalo and squash him, right? Eli Manning is going to have a hard to time moving the ball against the Bills’ defense. Bills 20, Giants 17.
Oakland Raiders 2-1 at Chicago Bears 0-3 – The Raiders are a team on the rise with a fast improving offense, to go with an outstanding defense. The Bears are the Bears. Raiders 31, Chicago 17.
Kansas City Chiefs 1-2 at Cincinnati Bengals 3-0 – Cincy has been one of the best regular season teams in the AFC for quite a few years now. The Chiefs are struggling to find themselves, and that won’t happen in Cincy. Bengals 24, Chiefs 13.
Carolina Panthers 3-0 at Tampa Bay Bucs 1-2 – Quietly, Cam Newton is becoming a superstar quarterback. He is maturing, making plays and leading his team. The rebuilding process is far from done for Lovie Smith in Tampa. Panthers 27, Bucs 21.
Philadelphia Eagles 1-2 at The team from Washington 1-2 – Not a fan of the team from Washington. Hope they lose every game until they find a suitable name. Philly 89, The team from Washington -6.
Houston Texans 1-2 at Atlanta Falcons 3-0 – The Texans have J.J. Watt, but they don’t have a quarterback. The Falcons have Julio Jones. Falcons 30, Texans 27.
Cleveland 1-2 at San Diego 1-2 – The Browns have to travel west to visit the Chargers. Cleveland simply doesn’t have enough firepower to best San Diego on the road. Chargers 24, Browns 21.
Green Bay Packers 3-0 at San Francisco 1-2 – Aaron Rodgers is the best player in the league, and no one is even close to him. He is so good the Packers should be called the Green Bay Rodgers. In fact, that is what I will call them from now on. Rodgers 42, San Francisco 26.
St. Louis Rams 1-2 at Arizona Cardinals -Arizona has put together a heck of a football team. They play great defense, and quarterback Carson Palmer has been hot. The Rams are no match. Cardinals 34, Rams 27.
Minnesota 2-1 at Denver 3-0 – The Vikings are an improved team, and we shouldn’t be surprised at that with the return of Adrian Peterson. However, Teddy Bridgewater is not the same player on the road as he is at home. Broncos 21, Vikings 10.
Dallas 2-1 at New Orleans 3-0 – The Cowboys are America’s Team. But they will feel like they are in a foreign country when they get to the Big Easy. The Super Dome will be rocking, and the Saints will be rolling. Saints 28, Cowboys 27.
Detroit Lions 0-3 at Seattle Seahawks 1-2 – The Lions are probably the most disappointing team this season so far. They just can’t get out of their own way. They will fall to 0-4 on Monday night. But don’t worry, 0-4 is damn near a winning streak in Motown, where the Lions once went 0-16. Seahawks 24, Lions 17.
