The perplexing, tragic case of Troy Causey, the Dallas high school basketball player, who died after a fight with another Dallas high school basketball star, Johnathan Turner, in 2014, has been reopened by investigators.
The controversy comes after that. Was Causey also kicked in the head while he was on the pavement? Turner says no, and Causey’s family says yes.
Turner eventually pleaded guilty to manslaughter, and received a seven-year suspended sentence, without having to serve jail time. Causey’s mother, Tammy Simpson, thinks he should be in jail. She has even showed up at Turner’s games at Ranger College saying “Jonathan Turner #44, Should Be In Jail, Not On The Court.’
This is an example of hoop dreams gone tragically wrong.
