The thing I love most about Venus and Serena Williams is not their remarkable ability to play tennis. It is not the all of the major titles, the major double titles, the victories, or the millions they have earned. It is the fact that the Williams sisters, are truly sistas.

They won’t let nothing, or nobody come in between their family bond. I saw it again Tuesday leading up to their quarterfinal match at the U.S. Open. Serena talked about being the little sister, and how Venus watched over her and protected her, and beat her routinely on the tennis court. She talked about how her big sister would take food out of her mouth, to make sure her little sister could eat.

And now, even though Serena has risen to become the better player, arguably the greatest player ever her love, respect and admiration for her big sister grows. Serena could easily have made her 6-2,1-6,6-3 win about her, and her quest to win the 2015 Grand Slam, but she lifted up her sister, who now stands in her shadow. “She is the toughest competitor I play,” Serena said of Venus. “And she is the best person I know.”

You can bet Venus will be cheering her sister on to victory as she has so many times during this remarkable run. They are the perfect example of sister love.  Venus and Serena are a first class sista act.
