The 2015 season will be remembered as a fond one for Venus and Serena Williams. To no one’s surprise, Serena was named the WTA Player of the Year, after putting together one of the most dominating seasons in the history of the sport, including three of the four major championships.  It was the third consecutive Player of the Year award for Serena, and the seventh in her brilliant career.

What may be equally impressive in its own way, is the strides Venus made in 2015.   Many observers had written her off.   She has struggled with her health (Sjogren’s Syndrome) since 2012.

When Venus came back to play a full schedule in 2015 at the age of 35, the chances of playing great tennis again seemed remote. However, the future Hall of Famer had a great season, winning three times, and climbing from a low as No. 137 in the world rankings, to No. 7 worldwide at the end of the season. These respective awards just adds to the magnificent tennis career the sisters from Compton, Calif., have been able to forge.
