It seems fitting that Kawhi Leonard, arguably the NBA’s most underrated player, would live such a humble lifestyle, despite having a $94 million contract.
Leonard pushes his 1997 Chevy Tahoe around The Alamo City, and uses coupons to order chicken wings.
In a league where opulence and swag is the norm, Leonard is a humble soul, and a throwback player.
It seems perfect that the 6-foot-7 Leonard would not only be so prudent with his finances, but handle himself in such a low-key manner.It fits his game on the floor.
Leonard, the 15th pick out of the 2011 draft from San Diego State, goes about his business in a quiet, most efficient manner, shutting down the opposition’s best player, rebounding (7.0 per game) and scoring (21.0 per game).
A lot of times you don’t even realize the numbers he has put up, until the game is over.
It sounds a lot like the way his teammate, Tim Duncan, has conducted business for nearly two decades. And, no doubt, that at least some of Leonard’s humility comes from being around Duncan.
After all, Duncan, aka The Big Fundamental, is one of the game’s greatest players, and also one of its most humble. He has been killing opponents in the NBA throughout his hall of fame career in the most quiet, understated way.
