I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the last we saw of Reggie Bush in the National Football League. Bush was hurt on his third carry of the night in San Francisco’s 20-3 win over the Minnesota Vikings Monday night. Bush suffered what is being called a calf injury. However, if it is anything like it has been the past three or four years, he will have a hard time coming back. And with Carlos Hyde busting out with a 100+plus yard performance, and showing he can handle heavy carry loads, Bush’s role is likely to be reduced if he returns.
A string of nagging injuries kept Bush from really flourishing as a star in the NFL. He never came close to living up to his stature as the No. 2 pick in the NFL draft in 2006, following an incredible college career at Southern Cal.
That said, it would be remiss to call him a bust. He helped New Orleans Saints win Super Bowl XLIV , and he rushed for more than 1,000 yards in 2011 for the Dolphins. Perhaps his best year was in 2013 in Detroit. He accounted for more than 1,500 yards rushing and receiving, despite being banged up quite a bit. However, last season he managed on 276 yards rushing, and was hurt most of the year. Although he still has the speed at the age of 30, his inability to stay healthy is going to make teams wary of taking a chance on him beyond this season. Here are some of Reggie’s biggest plays in the NFL.
If Bush was a second or third round pick, he would probably be thought of as a solid pro. Although he is known for his marriage to Kim Kardashian, and all the celebrity that brings off the field, he is also known and respected by his teammates for his work ethic and leadership. However, many will consider his career a disappointment. Check out some of his work in the pros in the video posted below.
