“What happened to them?,” you ask. Well, let me just say that some heads rolled. I mean, literally, some heads rolled.
But, today is a new day, and my new advisory staff promises to do a much better job than the previous staff. “Why do I say that?,” you ask. Well, they happened to be around when the heads were rolling. Well, actually, they had to pick up the heads that rolled.
But I like my new staff. I can truthfully say, they are highly motivated. In fact, you can say they have been putting all their heads together all week researching the games.
And with that, I have taken their recommendations under advisement. So, here are my NFL picks for Week 3 starting with Thursday Night’s :
The Team from Washington 1-1 at New York Giants 0-2 – Until the team from Washington changes their nickname I hope they lose every game. New York 100 – Team from Washington 0.
Atlanta Falcons 2-0 at Dallas Cowboys 2-0 – No Tony? No Dez? No chance! The Falcons fly away with a victory. Atlanta 24 – Cowboys 20.
Oakland Raiders 1-1 at Cleveland Browns 1-1- The Raiders have been terrible when they travel east in past years. Of course, they were terrible when they traveled, west, north and south, too. The Raiders have one of the most improved teams in the NFL. The Browns have Josh McCown and Johnny Manziel at quarterback…. That should tell you all you need to know. Raiders 21 – Browns 17.
San Diego Chargers 1-1 at Minnesota Vikings1-1 – Both teams only win this year has come against the Detroit Lions, which doesn’t say much about both teams. I give the Vikings a slight edge because they are at home. Vikings 21 – Chargers 20.
Chicago Bears 0-2 at Seattle Seahawks 0-2 – Bears’ quarterback Jay Cutler will miss this game with an injury, which probably increases their chances of victory… but not enough. The Seahawks get their first win, 31-14.
New Orleans Saints 0-2 at Carolina Panthers 2-0 – Saints quarterback Drew Brees is hurting, and may not play. But it really doesn’t matter because they are no longer the high powered team of a few years ago. Ever improving Cam Newton quarterbacks his team to an easy win. Panthers 28 – Saints 17.
Jacksonville Jaguars 1-1 at New England Patriots 2-0 – The Jaguars are heading to New England with momentum after a win over Miami. But the Patriots will take the wind out of their sails (and the air out of the footballs, if need be). Patriots 31 – Jaguars 10.
Cincinnati Bengals 2-0 at Baltimore Ravens 0-2 – Rarely do the Ravens let an opponent come into their house and push them around. They were always too good defensively. They are missing too many pieces, and the Bengals are playing great for coach Marvin Lewis. Bengals 24 – Ravens 21.
Buffalo Bills 1-1 at Miami Dolphins 1-1 – Hard to figure out these two teams so far. The Bills’ defense got torched by New England last week, and Miami’s Ndamukong Suh had a grand total of three tackles. I am giving the Dolphins a slight edge in their home opener. Dolphins 17 – Bills 14.
Pittsburgh Steelers 1-1 at St. Louis Rams 1-1- I don’t trust much about either one of these teams. The Rams blowup Seattle in Week 1, and then let the team from Washington beat them. Meanwhile, the Steelers’ defense looks nothing like the Steel City defenses we have known. The one guy who can be trusted is Ben Roethlisberger. Steelers 28 – St. Louis 27.
San Francisco 49ers 1-1 at Arizona Cardinals 1-1 – The Cardinals are going to win this game. Good thing they are at home, too. If they were in San Francisco those hoodlum 49er fans would probably try to beat them up afterwards. Cardinals 28 – 49ers 24.
Denver Broncos 1-1 at Detroit Lions 0-2 – I like the Lions. I have four pet Lions at my mansion. They are the scariest Lions I have ever seen. Sorta like the Lions’ offense, which seems afraid to cross the goal line. Peyton Manning leads the Broncos to a late touchdown. Broncos 31 – Lions 28.
Philadelphia Eagles 0-2 at New York Jets 2-0 – Chip Kelly’s new nickname is going to be ‘Chump’ Kelly pretty soon. He is taken a good, solid team, and turned it into a joke. You don’t trade away LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson and get better. McCoy hinted that Kelly had a problem with black players. Perhaps he has a problems with guys with ‘sean’ somewhere in their name. Jets 20 – Eagles 7.
Kansas City Chiefs 1-1 at Green Bay Packers 2-0 – My upset special of the week. The Kansas City pass rush gives Aaron Rodgers fits, and he throws a crucial interception that leads to the game winning touchdown. Chiefs 23 – Packers 20.
