More than 30 African-American players on the University of Missouri football team said they plan to boycott all football activities until the university’s president, Tim Wolfe, resigns or is terminated.
The boycott was announced on social media Saturday night (Nov. 7) by Missouri’s Legion of Black Collegians. A picture of the players was posted on Twitter. The boycott is in response to several racist incidents on campus and what the students feel has been inaction on the part of Wolfe. One of the recent incidents took place on Oct. 24, when a swastika was drawn in human feces on the wall of a dorm.
Earlier in the week, Jonathan Butler, a graduate student at the university, started a hunger strike calling for the removal of Wolfe.
