You know the party is only starting in Philadelphia following the Eagles’ dramatic Super Bowl LII victory over the New England Patriots. I can see the parties going on for days in the city of brotherly love.
However, I do know when the celebrating will stop, at least for some members of the Eagles football team. That is when the Eagles get an invitation to go to the White House.
Already, three members of the team (Malcolm Jenkins, Torrey Smith and Chris Long) have said they have no intention of going to the White House.
You can be sure there will be others to follow, considering the racist president’s ongoing criticism of the NFL, and its players, in light of the player activism that started with Colin Kaepernick.
Of course, as petty as the racist president is, there is a very good chance he won’t even invite the team.
Whether he does or doesn’t, Long’s explanation of why he won’t be there is something everyone should consider, especially those elected officials in Washington.
“No, I am not going to the White House…Are you kidding me,” said Long, who did not attend last year when he was with the world champion Patriots. “When my son grows up, and I believe the legacy of our president is going to be what it is, I don’t want my son to say “Hey, why did you go {to the White House] when you knew that the right thing was not to go?”
