George Leftwich and Steve Francis, two D.C. basketball legends, were guests on ‘In And Out Of Sports’, hosted by D.C. sports talk legend Butch McAdams.
Leftwich was a member of the 1959 and 1960 Carroll High School team that won 55 consecutive games and captured two City Championships that included future Georgetown University coach John Thompson.
Leftwich signed to play collegiately at Villanova and seemed destined for a career in the NBA until a car accident ended his career. He would go on to be a successful coach on the college and high school level.
Francis was the No. 2 overall pick in the 1999 draft by the Vancouver Grizzlies, but was traded to the Houston Rockets. He would back up Houston’s decision to trade for him tby winning the Rookie of the Year award, and making three All-Star game appearances. Leftwich opens up the interview and Francis joins the conversation at the 58 minute mark. ‘In And Out Of Sports’ is sponsored by Horton Funeral Services and Tacoma Station.
