According to reports, Smith and his wife were returning from dinner in the Big Easy when they were involved in a fender bender with another motorist. An argument ensued and the motorist pulled a gun out and shot Smith, and his wife, who was wounded in the leg.
The motorist, Cardell Hayes, 28, is now in custody and charged with second-degree murder.
This is so senseless. A man is taken from his family over a fender bender. And now, the shooter is going to be taken from his family, perhaps for the rest of life.
It is so ignorant. Yet another reason why everyone doesn’t need to be riding around with guns.
The shooter will have the rest of his life _ likely spent behind bars _ to think about his choice Saturday night.
Upon second thought, I am sure he will realize that pulling the trigger was a horrible decision.
Of course, at least he gets to think about it. His ignorance, his recklessness, his brutality, whatever prompted him to shoot a man and his wife over a fender bender, has stolen a life, and ruined his own life.
