Colin Kaepernick’s legacy is only getting stronger. Generations of people are witnessing his courage to stand for his beliefs, and respecting the sacrifice he has made to brings issues of justice, equality, and racism to light.
The former San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback, who kneeled during the playing of the national anthem last season to express his feelings on the above mentioned issues, was recently named GQ Magazine’s Man of The Year.
Last weekend the Southern California ACLU awarded him the ‘Eason Monroe Courageous Advocate Award’.
Kaepernick, who has been mostly silent during this season in which he has obviously been ‘whiteballed’ by the NFL’s practically all white ownership, left the audience with a few words.
“We must confront systemic oppression as a doctor would a disease,” Kaepernick said. “You identify it, you call it out, you treat it, and you defeat it.”
