There have been some great basketball legends have been seen at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) basketball tournament, including NBA stars like Rick Mahorn (Hampton Institute), and Ben Wallace and Charles Oakley of Virginia Union. But there is no bigger legend at the CIAA tournament than Abraham Mitchell, ‘Mr. CIAA’.
This is just a sample of Mr. CIAA’s wardrobe.
Mitchell, the dapper dabbin, superfly, super smooth, super cool, basketball fan, and fashion plate, is known for his resplendent attire, that he has shown off the past 33 years at the CIAA tournament. Mitchell will change into a litany of suits, that he actually designs and makes, and parade around the arena, to the delight of the fans. It is a great move on the part of the CIAA to honor Mitchell. His styling and profiling has added to the atmosphere that has help to make the CIAA home to the premier HBCU basketball tournament over the years.
