The great Oscar Robertson was a recent guest on ‘Derrick Gervin’s As Good As It Gets’ podcast.
The Big O is still going strong at 80 and is as outspoken as ever.
He talked about his start at Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis, where the team became the first black school to win the Indiana High School State title, his days at the University of Cincinnati, and his legendary NBA career, and the NBA today.
Robertson also talked about a recruiting trip to the University of Michigan in 1957 that didn’t go so well. Robertson flew up to Michigan from Indianapolis to visit U of M. Amazingly, no one from Michigan ever came to pick him up. “I waited around four or five hours, and I finally caught a plane back to Indianapolis.”
