Daniel Kleve is what happens when you have a racist like Donald Trump as the president of the United States.
Kleve a student at the University of Nebraska, and a member of the white nationalist group in Nebraska, posted a hateful video that is too ignorant to warrant being posted on this page.
While I am not blaming Kleve’s hate on Trump, I am blaming Trump’s bigotry and racial hatred for empowering people like Kleve. In a way, it’s about the only good thing I can think Trump has done, albeit inadvertently. He has made these racist think it’s OK to take their hoods off.
Of course, it isn’t.
The Nebraska men’s basketball team reacted to his video by letting people know that his attitude is not acceptable. The team plans to wear ‘Hate Will Not Win’ tee-shirt during warm-ups at upcoming home games. They have also taken the ‘Hate Will Not Win’ mantra to social media, and plan to film a Public Service Announcement promoting tolerance and respect.
“When my players realized that there’s a person with hate in his heart walking across campus and attending classes with other students and athletes, that struck close to home,” Nebraska coach Tim Miles said Yahoo Sports. “They wanted to do something to show that they’re willing to take a firm stand against hate speech and against racism.”
Props to the Cornhuskers for a slam dunk against hate.
It’s a powerful message from the Nebraska basketball message reminding racists like the president and Kleve that they can’t win, and they won’t win.
