After Detroit Lions rookie running back Ameer Abduhlla gashed the New Jets defense in the Lions’ 23-3 victory Thursday night in the Motor City, Jets coach Todd Bowles came away impressed: “He (Abdullah) looked like he did in college,” Bowles told the Detroit News. “He’s quick as a cat. He’s about as quick as Barry Sanders. I’m not saying he is Barry, but he’s a good running back.”
I am going to say he is not Barry, either coach. Although Abdullah, a second-round pick from Nebraska, is certainly a playmaker. No. 20 was in a league of his own. In case some of you have forgotten, here are a few clips of Barry, and also a clip of Abdullah during his Cornhusker days.
