Serena Williams just keeps on rolling. Williams, arguably the greatest player in the history of the sport, beat rival Maria Sharapova 6-4, 6-1 Monday night in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.
Remarkably, it was Williams’ 18th consecutive victory of Sharapova, who is one the game’s most accomplished players in her own right, having won the career Grand Slam.
Williams struggled early, missing several easy shots. But once she settled down, it was absolutely no contest.
Williams advances to the semifinals where she will face Agnieszka Radwanska, and is looking for her 22nd Grand Slam title.
