(Editors Note: North Carolina A&T and Alcorn State University dueled in a 41-34  thriller in the Celebration Bowl in Atlanta on Saturday.  It was an outstanding game from start to finish, and proved HBCUs still field quality football teams. The game came down to the final seconds, as A&T was able to hold Alcorn on a fourth and goal,  securing the victory. The MVP of the game was A&T’s Tarik Cohen. The junior running back was  brilliant, rushing for 295-yards, and three touchdowns. The African-American Athlete is re-posting a piece about Cohen that appeared earlier in the season.)

North Carolina A&T’s Tarik Cohen is arguably the best player in Black College football, and all of the FCS. If you don’t want to give the 5-foot-6, 173 pound running back that honor, he has to be FCS’s  most electric player.

His diminutive size, sprinter speed and elusiveness, makes you think of the great Barry Sanders. And while I am not saying he is the second coming of one of the NFL’s greatest players, his productivity has been Sanders-like at the FCS level.

The junior from Bunn, N.C. has rushed for more than 1,000 yards in his freshman and sophomore seasons, and has already racked up 646 yards, and eight touchdowns heading into Saturday’s game with Howard University.

His athletic ability is off the charts. You see it in his dazzling runs, and he demonstrates it with an incredible, back flip catch that was the rage of You Tube, and earned him appearances on national television.

Linked below is a link featuring Cohen’s spectacular back flip catch, and highlights.
