It is a sad day for Texas Southern University fans and alumni, and all of those who love HBCU football. TSU’s Tray Walker, a second year cornerback for the Baltimore Ravens, died today from injuries suffered in a dirt bike accident in Liberty City, Fla.
Walker was only 23.
“Tray was a young man with a good and kind heart,” John Harbaugh, coach of the Ravens, said in a statement. “He was humble and loved everything about being part of the Ravens’ team. He loved his teammates, the practice and the preparation, and that showed every day. He was coachable, did his most to improve and worked to become the best. I’ll never forget that smile. He always seemed to be next to me during the national anthem; then we would give each other a big hug. May he rest in the Peace of Christ Jesus forever.”
Walker, a fourth-round draft pick from Texas Southern in 2015, was riding his dirt bike when it collided head on with another car in Liberty City, a suburb of Miami, Thursday evening.
He was taken to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he passed away this morning. Linked is a tribute video to Walker:
