The University Miami Hurricanes football team responded from its most embarrassing performance in its rich football history, with one of its greatest moments in history just one week later.
Trailing Duke University 27-24 with just six seconds left in the game, the Hurricanes scored on one of the wildest kickoff returns you will ever see. The ‘Canes threw eight laterals before cornerback Corn Elder caught the final one, and raced 75-yads for the winning score.
The officials reviewed the play for several minutes and ruled the touchdown good, giving the Hurricanes a 30-27 victory. The win came one week after the Hurricanes lost 58-0 to Clemson, and fired its coach Al Golden. He was replaced by assistant coach Larry Scott. Linked is the return, and the moments in question as the officials reviewed the play.
