Why The Media Portrays White Shooters Differently

Brian Jason Dalton, 45, was arrested Saturday night in the shooting and killing of six people, and wounding two others, one seriously, in a shooting spree in Kalamazoo, MI.

Dalton, an Uber driver, allegedly shot victims in-between fares, before being captured by police.

It is important to note that Dalton is a white man. That very fact changes entirely how the story is being reported in the media.

Because Dalton is white you will hear  no mention of ‘terrorism’.  If Dalton is Christian you are not going to hear about ‘radical Christians’ attacking us or our life style.  You are not going to hear republican plans to ban white males from anything… not carrying guns or traveling around, you won’t hear Donald Trump say this is why we need to ban ‘all Christians’, and FOX News won’t some how say this is another example of President Obama not being able to keep us safe although they are sure to find a way to blame him for something related.

One reporter on CNN said that Dalton seemed like your ‘average Joe’. But that is some straight garbage, like some of the kids like to say. Your ‘average Joe’ doesn’t ride around shooting innocent people.  The terms they are using is  racial code for a ‘white male of working class’.

Now, if Dalton had dark skin, or a ‘Muslim’ name, the alarms and questions regarding terrorism would be sounding full scale. He would be portrayed as ‘sinister’ and ‘evil’. We would be exploring his hatred for elderly white women and what those women represent.  It is sad.

The truth is anyone of any race or religion is capable of this kind of violence in today’s world.  And, whomever commits such a despicable act should be punished with vigor, and the same empathy he/she showed their victims, none.

These people want us to think that Muslims are the only people we should fear attacking us. However, only the naïve buy that line.

In fact, more often than not, these are white men who are the culprits. According to research by Mother Jones magazine, the majority of mass shooters are white men. Report 64 percent of mass shooting by white men.

White men were responsible for the mass shooting tragedies at Sandy Hook School in Newton, Ma. the Aurora, Colo., movie shooting, and the Charleston, S.C., church shooting. And, honestly, those are just for starters.

Although white men are largely responsible for these evil acts, they are portrayed much differently.

If you don’t believe me watch the coverage of Dalton, and watch the next time someone with dark skin, or a Muslim name, commits an act of evil.

And, yes, it will be another tragedy, with all the killing machines readily available, and sickness, mental illness and hatred out, there, it will happen again.

It is a cruel reality of the world we live in today.
