Comedian and political commentator Bill Maher has apologized for his recent use of a racial slur on his show, HBO’s ‘Real Time’.
During a conversation with Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse about adolescence and maturity, Maher joked about adults in California dressing for Halloween. Sasses explained that did not happen in Nebraska:
Maher: “I’ve got to get to Nebraska more.
Sasse: “You’re welcome. We’d love to have you work in the fields with us.”
Maher: “Work in the fields? Senator, I’m a house nigger. No, it’s a joke.”
Maher, a critic of the current president, and conservatives, has often spoken in support of black issues.
However, on during Friday night’s episode, Professor Eric Michael Dyson and Ice Cube stopped by to explain that Maher isn’t that down for the cause.
