It was really no surprise that South Carolina Gamecock star A’ja Wilson was the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA draft by the Las Vegas Aces Thursday in New York. Wilson, who led the Gamecocks to the 2017 NCAA championship, and was the three-time Southeastern Conference Player of The Year, was a force in women’s college basketball.
However, in one of the coolest moments of draft history occurred when the 6-foot-5 center stepped to the podium to meet WNBA president Lisa Borders for pictures. The two ladies, members of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, flashed the famous AKA ‘pinky’ sign, which we are sure made AKA’s around the world proud.
