Dr. Lonise Bias, the mother of Maryland Terps basketball legend, Len Bias, was the featured guest on ‘In And Out Of Sports’, hosted by D.C. talk show legend Butch McAdams.
Following a sparkling career at Maryland, her son Len was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1986 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics. Tragically, he died two days after he was drafted from a cocaine overdose. He was only 22.
Dr. Bias would experience another tragedy in 1990 when her son, Jay, was murdered. He was 20.
Dr. Bias talked about Len’s life and introduction to basketball, and the strength it took her family to deal with the loss of their sons.
Dr. Bias is a motivational speaker who has inspired the lives of countless people from all walks of life.
