Larry Wright.

Former Grambling State basketball star and NBA world champion Larry Wright was the latest guest on ‘In And Out Of Sports’, hosted by D.C. sports talk legend Butch McAdams.

Larry Wright.

Wright, a native of Monroe, La., played his senior season of high school basketball at Western High School in D.C. and was one of the country’s most sought after college recruits as a Parade All-American.

But the 6-foot-1 guard’s lifelong love for Grambling took him back home to the Southwestern Athletic Conference in 1973.

After tearing up the SWAC, he decided to turn pro his junior season. Ironically, it was a trip back to D.C. as the No. 14 pick of the Washington Bullets. Wright was a key part of the Bullets’ run to the 1978 NBA title.
