Really, Pittsburgh fans? You are upset that your Steelers’ signed Mike Vick? Really? You are upset that Vick was convicted, and served 21-months in prison on dog fighting charges, which is very not cool. More than 8,000 Steelers fans (and counting) signed a petition protesting Vick’s signing.
However, you are cool with the fact that your star quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, was involved in a rape allegation in Nevada. The case was eventually settled out of court in 2008. And, while there is no official statement on what were the terms of the settlement, you know in your heart that something bad likely happened. You know in your heart that Big Ben likely put out some big bucks to make it go away.
But, you are cool with that? No outrage. No petitions. OK, just wanted to know where you are coming from. By the way, I would also like you to know that Steeler Fan, you are being very hypocritical.
The decision to sign Vick is a smart one by Steelers’ GM, Kevin Colbert, who is one of the best in the business. And, to Vicks’ credit, he has not only served his time for his crime, but apologized numerous times for his failures.
Since returning to the NFL in 2009 Vick has been straight up, open and honest. He has clearly matured. At 35, he is not the player he once was, and hopefully for your Steelers, you will never have to see him play.
So, with that, Steeler fans, you can get down off your high horse. Because if you don’t like Mike, how can you like Ben?
