Former NBA official Derrick Stafford stopped by Derrick Gervin’s ‘As Good As It Gets’ podcast to discuss his 30-years officiating in the NBA.
Stafford talked about how difficult it was to officiate games during the days of physical players like Anthony Mason and Charles Oakley of the Knicks, as opposed to today’s game which emphasizes the 3-pointer.
Stafford said that while people always said Jordan got help from the refs, that was not true. “MJ didn’t need our help. He was the best player in the game.”
